Hello -
Hope you've had a fantastic start to your week! We are going to get into follow up from the Friday, November 12th National Conference Call, but first we have a more pressing matter.
Oregon needs our attention! Please see the information below provided by David Morrison out of Oregon regarding the OR Senate Education Committee investigation happening today:
"Here is the link to the meeting scheduled by the Oregon Senate Education Committee on Monday, Nov. 15th . This will be an investigation, of only 20 minutes, of the mishandling of the Senate Bill 283 by the Oregon Health Authority. We are hoping some can check in so they will know we are watching. CLICK HERE TO WATCH. The meeting begins at 2pm PST, but David Morrison, Theodora Scarato, and David Carpenter are last on the agenda
(maybe around 4ish?). Testimony or input can be forwarded to: sed.exhibits@oregonlegislature.gov
For those who are unfamiliar with the situation, the OHA defrauded the process by using industry funded studies, withholding the first draft from a freedom of information request because it had a long list of harmful effects
from wireless.
Odette gave a presentation on how to post to get interns at universities - including law, engineering, journalism, graphic art and business schools and the importance of developing presentation skills (e.g., at Toastmasters) and advancing our message. Odette kindly shared her slides with us, as well as a sample job posting and internship agreement.
The agreement will need to be tailored to your organization and needs. The agreement template needs to be reviewed very carefully to take out all references to Wired Broadband, Inc. and Odette's name and replaced with your organization's names and signatory. Also, if you are not a New York state organization, the NYS provision does not apply and should be deleted.
There was a lot more discussion that transpired after Odette's presentation and we will be sending out these information and suggestions interspersed within future emails!
Finally, we wanted to share an upcoming event sent to us by Theodora Scarato from the Environmental Health Trust (from a Policy Tracker email):
