Hi -
Here is the follow up email for the Friday, May 6th National Call for Safe Technology.
First, here is a replay of Friday's call: https://youtu.be/z23Q1d_Am3o
We began this meeting by welcoming some new individuals to the call; we're excited to have more action-takers in the fold to join the conversations!
Next, Doug Wood let us know about the Americans for Responsible Technology (ART) Tech Safe Schools Advocate Program Campaign.
Advocates can sign up on the Tech Safe Schools website to have TSS send a letter to their school district superintendent regarding the dangerous levels of wireless in schools, and then TSS notifies the advocate so they can follow up with their district. There are already 120 school districts across the US who have sent letters to their superintendents!
You can sign up to be a TSS Advocate and have a letter sent to your school district here: https://www.techsafeschools.org/techsafe-advocate
And please take a second to LIKE ART's Facebook Page!: https://www.facebook.com/Techsafeschools
After Doug, Dr. Lisa Smith updated us on what is going on in Tucson, AZ with a short presentation; the Tucson groups have essentially tried everything and are being ignored by their public
officials.
Professor Russ Witte from The University of Arizona gave a longer presentation regarding some different approaches/strategies they're using on the local level which includes documents of notices and affidavits.
Professor Witte was kind enough to share his presentation, which was a large file, so we've created a page you can download it from here:
https://virginiansforsafetech.org/national-call-for-safe-technology-meeting-info/
You can learn more about each notice, read them and sign them at: Safetechtucson.com/notices-and-affidavits.
Here is Notice Number three in JotForm form; you can sign and see the other two here: https://form.jotform.com/221057601138043

Following Q&A, Donna Ott in Pennsylvania gave an update:
They have multiple teams doing different things, including a team of professionals and affidavits. They're finding it seems to help to leverage their bad experiences/sicknesses with wireless utility meters to get people involved. However, PA4ST is hearing over and over again that municipalities "hands are tied" so now they're leaning towards litigation and getting an injunction at the state level to put a pause on the rollout.
FYI - We are still waiting for a ruling on the PA Smart Meter Case.
Next, Sheila Resseger in Rhode Island had some questions regarding a conversation from a previous call about Rhode Island.
Here is another question that Sheila is putting out to the group:
"What is the process to get written documentation into the official record of City Councils? -- I'm having a big problem with this now. We presented a Cease and Desist order to our city, and they just ignored it and then passed the buck to the PUC, which said they didn't have anything to do with it."
***If you have an answer for Sheila, please email her at sresseger2016@gmail.com***
Courtney Gilardi gave an update about Pittsfield:
TUESDAY, MAY 10th Pittsfield has a vote to appropriate $84,000 from the $5 million free cash budget to move forward with the cease and desist. Verizon sent a letter to the city council saying that they don't acknowledge the science, experts, studies, harm, or the authority of their Board of Health.
Tuesday evening at 6pm the city's leadership (with both public comments and a closed door executive session) will be deciding whether to enforce the BOH's order or drop it and how to appropriate the money needed.
***For those who can join on May 10th - please let Courtney know! courtneygilardi@yahoo.com***
Neil McDougall from the UK then filled us in on an approach they're taking and the parallels to Pittsfield.
Neil also told us he's exploring another approach which could be helpful for us in the US as well, considering it's regarding a global compliance system. The International Standards Organization is basically a worldwide system for quality control obligations to maintain quality control, environmental, and health and safety (mostly company to company) but it can be triggered and make "ISO compliant" companies which are proven to be non-compliant risk assessed against
non-thermal harm.
This is the claim made by Verizon’s parent company: "PICS Telecom’s US and EMEA operations are each certified to one or more internationally recognised quality, environmental, health or safety standards. Integrating these standards into our operations have allowed us to improve quality, reduce pollution, mitigate health and safety risks and responsibly resell/recycle surplus telecom and end of life electronics throughout the supply chain. We will continually
improve our systems while striving to minimise adverse impacts on the environment."
We will continue to get updates from Neil on his pursuit and it may be an approach for us to take here.
Jesus Mendoza in Mission, Texas is requesting letters of support for his cases still!
They can be a short as a paragraph, but the courts need to know he's not the only one suffering from EMS.
Jesus asks that if you have personal stories of EMS to please include those in your letter.
PLEASE EMAIL YOUR SUPPORT LETTERS FOR JESUS MENDOZA TO:
2315jeanne@gmail.com
Odette went over everything in the rest of the agenda (speedily), which we've attached again to this email.
Many of the submissions being done at the federal level are last minute because we are hearing about them late; PLEASE be sure to check our emails because Odette will be sending out comments so as many people as possible can sign on as possible.
We need to keep showing up in numbers!
And finally, here are a few great pieces of info shared in the chat that we thought you'd like to see!
Irene from Maryland shared this great news:
The Alliance of Nurses for Healthy Environments (ANHE) announced the publication of Environmental Health in Nursing 2nd Edition – an update to their award-winning open access textbook for nurses and other health professionals. It includes a "new form of environmental pollution: wireless and non-ionizing electromagnetic fields"!
"The second edition represents the latest in environmental health nursing research, education, advocacy, and practice. It is much larger than the first edition because more nurses are engaged in environmental health, and they are advancing their roles as practitioners, educators, advocates, and environmental health scientist. The new e-text includes an expanded climate change section, more environmental sciences and nurse research..."

Unit III: A NEW FORM OF ENVIRONMENTAL POLLUTION: WIRELESS AND NON-IONIZING ELECTROMAGNETIC FIELDS was written by Catherine Dodd PhD, RN, FAAN and Theodora Scarato, MSW Executive Director Environmental Health Trust
"The wireless revolution and the expansion of the internet of things is rapidly increasing our exposure to non-ionizing electromagnetic fields (EMFs) now considered a new form of environmental pollution (Russell, 2018, Bandara & Carpenter, 2018). Health and medical professionals recommend that we reduce these EMF exposures because of a growing body of research that documents adverse biological effects from low level exposures (Miller, 2019). This chapter will introduce what EMFs are, how
people are exposed, science documenting health effects of exposure, U.S. and international policy on protection from EMFs and nursing implications for clinical practice and advocacy in concert with ANA’s principles."

Kelly Marcotulli in Oregon is looking for guidance with writing an initiative in Oregon to Stop 5G. She'd like it to be "Awareness building as much as actually getting initiative passed." You can email Kelly here with any suggestions/help: kellymarcotulli@gmail.com
