Hi , Call Recording: https://youtu.be/IdgkvB-ZMW4 SPEAKERS / GUESTS - Valerie Pegues-Johnson in
Virginia told us about Dominion Energy who brought our attention to her threatened, dishonest, and unethical business practices and what her ongoing battle has been to be able to keep a "smart" meter off her house.
- Odette talked about the battle in NYC regarding the proposed jumbo 5G towers:
- Currently they have
14 NYC community boards in opposition to the giant cell phone towers (which don't have any setback requirements, by the way) and they should have at least three more boards for a total of 17!
- The FCC sent a letter to the site developer (City Bridge) and halted all construction because City Bridge didn't do the required environmental and historical preservation review (see attached) - this comes on the heels of the Congressman Nadler's letter to the
FCC asking why they aren't fulfilling these requirements?
- FCC Orders Review of ‘Behemoth 5G Towers’ Being Installed in New York City: https://childrenshealthdefense.org/defender/fcc-behemoth-5g-towers-new-york-city/
- Groups in NYC and Theodora Scarato from EHT have been pounding the pavement to educate and mobilize New Yorkers and community boards
- There has been no systematic review in NYC of how to rollout 5G
- They are planning for as many as 7,500 cell towers on the
streets of NYC
- There has been a meeting with the Public Advocate's office - 29 people attended from city boards and groups! They're very interested in the issue and have someone who is assigned to deal with environmental justice
- Odette says they now have a 30-minute meeting with Mayor Eric Adams of NYC on May 17! All the chairs of the boards who disapproved of all the towers will be in attendance and Odette
will be opening with a presentation for the Mayor.
ACTION ITEMS / EVENTS / UPDATES - Also out of Massachusetts - Two towns halt wireless proliferation until FCC reviews evidence! See below from Massachusetts for Safe
Technology:
- The FCC filing regarding digital discrimination is done and broke
all the records with more than 100 co-signers! (organizations and people) Last year did not include proposed rule making, this one did, so hopefully it has an impact regarding their decisions.
- See more in the attached agenda.
ADDITIONAL ITEMS - Irene shared the following links:
- Read articles written by Jill McManus in the Westview News NYC
- Ruth shared
several thoughts:
- Considered creating a business card with the electricians/contractors who know how to hard wire. Is there a registry of electricians - networking contractor etc - who know how to do this? We could create a database.
- If health is included in environment - why isn't it included in environment on the wireless issue?
- White plains is
fighting 11 new applications that came in right before the new ordinances were passed, but the telecom doesn't have the right insurance though - they didin't fulfill the insurance.
- Andrea Mercier:
- EMF emissions vehicles https://www.osti.gov/biblio/1649127 This study reviews the exposure limits and safety of intermediate frequency (IF) electromagnetic field (EMF) emissions for wireless electric vehicle charging (WEVC) applications. A review of the electromagnetic field exposure limits identified in international guidelines are presented. An overview of the electromagnetic field shielding
technologies is provided including recommended geometries, materials, and performances of the methods available in the literature. Available laboratory results of EMF emissions are summarized considering several wireless power transfer studies in different power levels. Possible EMF reduction techniques are discussed with shielding practices and ORNL case studies. Also, living object detection (LOD) and foreign object detection (FOD) methods are reviewed from a safety
aspect.
