Hi ,
We decided to put both the follow up from last call and the registration link for this week's call in the same email - so make sure to scroll down to the bottom to register for this Friday's meeting once you peruse the all the great info!
First, here is the replay to the 9/17 National Call for Safe Technology:
Below you'll find links pertinent to the topics covered by each of our wonderful speakers last Friday:
1) Theodora Scarato spoke about the meaning of the August 13th decision against the FCC, a new letter to Biden from the Environmental Health Trust*, the investigation into the deficiencies in the Oregon Health Authority's wifi health risks report, and some great new resources they're working on.* (*We will be sending out the new letter to Biden and resources once they are in final form!)
Studies mentioned - Effects of non-ionizing electromagnetic fields on flora and fauna, Part 1 & 2:
OREGON INFO LINKS:
Oregon Health Authority's "Wireless Technology Health Risks Report; Senate Bill 283" reveals errors, inconsistencies, and omission of critical research:
2) David Morrison talked about the Oregon Health Authority's examination into the health effects of exposure of children to wireless radiofrequency radiation, the subsequent shortcomings, and the investigation regarding OHA's altered report, which was set to take place tomorrow but has since been cancelled and rescheduled for November. This was a last minute cancellation and we will update you as more information becomes
available!
3) Larry Ortega with Community Union, Inc., a nonprofit corporation based in California specializing in helping people access and use on-line resources through training, caught us up on the bills in California and his work with unions on this issue. Visit
laortega.com for more information on Larry's work and what is going on in California.
Other great information shared during the call:
Odette Wilkens shared best practices of hiring university students as interns to help with Wired Broadband, Inc. and urged those of us interested in using (free) student help within our organizations to call student services at universities, explain the type of work that is needed, and see if we would be able to hire an intern for a work-study or credits, etc.
Paul McGavin had a call with the FCC last week, in which he confirmed the following:
-The NEPA rule changes that removed Table 1 of FCC NEPA rule § 1.1307 took effect on May 3, 2021
- All Wireless Telecommunications Facilities (WTFs) with application submittal dates prior to May 3, 2021 are subject to the old rules
- We can petition to cancel the license(s) of any Wireless Carrier that did not complete NEPA review in their Wireless Telecommunications Facilities (WTF) application process (even those that have been built) -- see
https://ourtownourchoice.org/nepa
After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.
Phew! That was a lot right? We'll be back later this week with an agenda and some more information from the last call.
Sincerely,
Jenny DeMarco
