Hi ,
Here’s a list of U.S. House and Senate legislators, listed by
the respective committees which have jurisdiction over the telecom-based, federal bills that are being fast tracked. The list is 5 pages.
Please review and see if your House and Senate legislators are on the list (your legislator may be on more than one committee). If so, email us with your full name, email address, and names of your legislators and their committees by Wednesday, October 4, 2023 at noon EST.
These
legislators have tremendous influence over the bills and whether they will pass out of their committees for a vote in the House and Senate. Having you as a constituent of theirs to speak up against the bills is important.
Whether your legislator is on these committees or not, please get in touch with them, both in the House and Senate. Of course, if your legislator is on any of the committees, you will have an added advantage since they have influence over
the bills. We have updated fact sheets which are attached for distribution to your legislators. They give an overview of the issues.
On the website www.thenationalcall.org, you will find, below the fold under “Advocacy,” two additional documents:
- Letter to legislators on national
security risks
- Position Paper on Federal Bills that Threaten Local Control over Wireless Permitting
When contacting your legislator:
- Call them to find out who is in charge of telecom.
- Schedule a phone call, video conference or in person meeting with them.
- Introduce them briefly to the subject and give them the fact sheets (email, as well).
- Schedule a follow up meeting to find out the response from your
legislator, and tell them you have additional information to give them (the letter on national security and position paper referenced above) at the follow up meeting.
- Email us and let us know what happened at the meeting.
We may be contacting some of these legislators, as well, and if so, we will also coordinate with you for your legislator.
We will provide you with periodic updates.
Here are additional
resources:
- Environmental Health Trust https://ehtrust.org/congress/ includes EHT fact sheets and a comprehensive spreadsheet of all bills being tracked (over 50 bills)
That’s it for now.
